The Best Chevy Models for an Active Lifestyle

There is so much to enjoy near American Fork if you like to get up to some adventures in your free time. We’re close to Great Salt Lake, so you can go out boating whenever the weather turns warm and enjoy a whole day on the water. Just south of the lake, we have a number of peaks and Flat Top Mountain, where navigating rocky terrain can keep you in shape, and you can become an adept climber. Ashley National Forest is nearby, too, where you can go hiking for days and still come across new sights and sounds.
To explore all that the area has to offer, you want to make sure you own a great vehicle to take you there. We believe you can never go wrong with investing in a Chevy model if you want to add more spice to your life. We at Riverton Chevrolet are your American Fork Chevy dealer, and we stock a large number of models that are geared toward an active lifestyle. The right vehicle can make or break an adventure, so we want to make sure you have the absolute best vehicle for yours.
Time to Head to the Water? The Silverado Will Serve You Well
The Chevy Silverado can help you bring along the gear you need to have a great time on the water. There are three different versions of the Silverado—the 1500, the 2500, and the 3500. While the 1500 is the smallest, its 2024 model can still tow up to 13,300 pounds. That’s enough for most people and most reasonable-sized boats, but if you want almost unlimited power, you should go with the Silverado 3500, which gives you 36,000 pounds of towing capacity. You’ll be able to tow a cruise ship to Great Salt Lake at that rate.
If your water activities don’t require all that towing, you’ll be happy with the payload capacity the Silverado can offer you. You can stow any aquatic gear into your truck’s bed and know that it will be safe and sound. Your bed can handle up to 7,742 pounds if you opt for the 3500 model, which means even if you have some big plans, your Silverado will be able to meet the task of the day. As a point of comparison, that payload amount is heavier than the weight of most pickup trucks.

Off-Roading in Your Future? Check Out the Chevy Colorado
While the Silverado is rightfully famous, we feel like the Colorado—another fantastic Chevy pickup truck—is sometimes overlooked. We’re big fans of it as it’s a little smaller than the Silverado, which means it can maneuver better in difficult driving zones and is very capable of handling rough terrain. You know those trails you’ve been dreaming of conquering? It won’t be a problem for the Colorado. Its ZR2 trim was created in partnership with American Expedition Vehicles and is specifically geared for off-roading. This fantastic trim offers you a best-in-class 12.2-inch ground clearance; that means when you’re riding over bumpy ground—even extremely bumpy ground—your truck see you through without a scratch. But the fun doesn’t end there as the ZR2 also has best-in-class underbody protection with five boron steel skid plates that keep the bottom of your truck well protected from the road, the off-road, and whatever else you decide to traverse.
The ZR2 also has impressive 34-inch tires that will help you blast through mud or snow. In fact, we should pause to say that, being in Utah, you should always double-check how a vehicle handles snow. That’s another reason we love the Colorado—its high clearance, traction control system, and fantastic transmission all mean it’s more than happy to deal with cold, ice, and snow. Over the years, more than a few Colorados have plowed our streets.
If challenging treks are in your future—for pleasure or business—then the Colorado is a must-buy.
Have a Whole Family that Wants Adventure? Take a Look at the Tahoe or the Suburban
Often, we see families who want to explore what Utah has to offer but feel boxed in by the size of their vehicles. Many large families fear they’ll have to travel with two cars or SUVs just to have the whole gang come along for a trip. This sometimes leads to people abandoning trips entirely. That won’t happen if you buy one of Chevy’s two largest SUVs. Either the Chevy Tahoe or the Chevy Suburban can seat up to eight people each, depending on which seating design you decide to go with. Now, if you’re going to Great Salt Lake or Ashley National Forest, you can do it in one big SUV, which means less in gas and maintenance costs. Life is easier when everyone fits into one SUV.
Comfort has not been sacrificed for seating in these big models, so everyone will feel cozy and relaxed as you drive all over Utah. If your adventures call for some serious off-roading, it will be comforting to know that the Suburban and the Tahoe are both well-equipped for rough terrain. The Suburban, for example, comes with a 10-speed transmission and has a trim specifically designed for dirt roads—the Z71. The Tahoe also has a Z71 trim. It’s a little smaller than the Suburban, which means it’s slightly less roomy, but it’s still more than ready to take your family to whatever remote destination you have in mind. Just because your family is large does not mean you should have to miss out on the great outdoors.

Does Your Adventurous Side Call for a Need for Speed?
If you’re looking for a ride that can take off like a rocket, Chevy has you covered. The Chevy Corvette can have you zipping to wherever you want and making every drive feel like an adventure. Even commuting around American Fork or Salt Lake City can get your blood pumping when you’re in a 2024 Corvette. Getting on the highway knowing you can go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds is an empowering feeling.
If you like to race on a track, you can get an even more intense Corvette—the 2024 Corvette Z06. This can go from standstill to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and cover a quarter of a mile in 10.5 seconds, and it can go up to 131 mph with relative ease. Many adventures are about the destination, but the Corvette Z06 turns the journey into the adventure itself. You’ll feel like you’re the owner of a rocket ship whether you’re on a closed track.
