In front-wheel drive mode, the Equinox gets an EPA combined rating of 28 MPG, 26 MPG in the city, and 31 MPG on the highway. All-wheel drive figures are almost as impressive—26 MPG combined, 24 in the city, and 30 on the highway.

Big Storage Possibilities In A Small SUV

Some drivers shy away from compact SUVs because they believe they won’t have enough cargo space. We’d like to let those drivers know that the Equinox has some storage secrets up its sleeves. First, it has hidden storage beneath the rear cargo floor for you to stash items and an excellent place to put valuables. The second row boasts a 60/40 split-folding design. Put down the 60 percent side when you need a lot more room or the other side when you only need a little more room. Or, fold down the entire rear row for a maximum cargo space of 63.9 cu.ft. If it’s just you and a front-seat passenger, you can fit plenty of stuff in the back of the Equinox. To access the rear storage space, there’s a hands-free power liftgate to help you access it. If you approach the vehicle and your arms are full, so long as you have this feature and your key on your person, just swipe your foot beneath the trunk. The trunk will open automatically.
