Since it is available in such unique trims, many shoppers looking for a Chevy Colorado for sale aren’t quite sure which model will best fit their needs. Plus, as with many Chevy trucks, the Colorado is highly customizable, giving drivers many ways to build the perfect truck for their daily tasks and commutes.
In order to help you determine which Colorado is best for your lifestyle and needs, we have provided an overview of this midsize truck and the highlights of its trims. We’ll start with what you can find across all models and then dive into the specifics of each one.
Performance
Chevy has two excellent engines for the Colorado in the 2024 year. There is the starting engine, the 2.7L turbocharged engine. It produces 237 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, you are able to tow up to 3,500 pounds. This is the standard engine of the WT trim and the LT trim. Next, there is the 2.7L TurboMax engine, which bumps the output of horsepower up to 310 and the torque up to 430 lb-ft. With this beefy engine and the trailer package, you can tow up to 7,700 pounds. You will have an eight-speed automatic transmission regardless of your chosen engine.
Utility
As for utility, every 2024 Colorado can be ordered with the StowFlex tailgate. This feature has a built-in storage compartment within the tailgate, giving you extra space to stash your gear and equipment. Plus, it has a drain, so you can use this handy storage as a cooler if you want. It only comes standard on the ZR2, but it is an available feature on all other trims. Additionally, the EZ-Lift tailgate is also an available feature for the 2024 Colorado. This feature allows you to raise and lower the tailgate with minimal effort. You can even lock and unlock this tailgate with your key.
The ability to set the tailgate to a mid position gives you the option to transport longer items. In this position, the tailgate can support up to 500 pounds. Your Colorado will come with eight standard fixed tie-downs. However, it can be ordered with up to 17. You’ll also find a handy built-in measuring tool for on-the-go jobs in your Colorado’s tailgate.

Driver Assist
Every Chevy Colorado will enjoy standard Chevy Safety Assist. This includes Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Departure Warning, a Following Distance Indicator, and IntelliBeam headlamps. Also standard with each Colorado model will be an HD Rear Vision Camera, a Rear Seat Reminder that notifies you to check your second row for children and pets before exiting your vehicle, and Chevy’s popular Teen Driver technology, which allows you to set limits as to your teen’s driving behaviors, and review a report card on their driving patterns.
Infotainment
In the infotainment department, you can look forward to an 11.3-inch diagonal center touchscreen with Google built-in on every 2024 Colorado. You can use Google Maps, Google Play, and other Google features right there in your truck. The infotainment touchscreen is complemented by an 11-inch diagonal digital driver information center where you can find vehicle and journey stats. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities are standard on all models. So you can leave the USB cords at home and still sync your phone up to the touchscreen.
Exciting Trim-Specific Features
Now that we have covered some of the best features you can get standard and available on all trims, let’s take a closer look at each trim’s unique perks.
The WT
Let’s start with the WT, also known as the work truck. As its name implies, this is a truck that covers your basic necessities. It’s known for being a solid and reliable vehicle for anyone looking for a great truck for commuting between jobs and tackling tasks at the job site. It has a comfortable cloth seat trim, a six-way manual driver seat, and a four-way manual front passenger seat. It’s a dependable pickup truck offering good fuel economy with its 2.7 L turbocharged engine. If you want a well-priced pickup that has everything you need for a work truck, consider the WT.
The LT
The LT builds on the WT with some excellent style details and more comfort and convenience. For example, it has body-color front fascia, door handles, and rear bumper. It has a stylish jet-black interior with bright silver accents. This trim also has a standard keyless open and start and an available eight-way power driver seat. It enjoys 17-inch wheels with all-season tires, available dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated front passenger seats.

The Trail Boss
Next, there is the Trail Boss. This is the first of three off-road-oriented trims for the 2024 Colorado. It enjoys 9.5 inches of ground clearance, which is over 1.5 inches more than the WT and LT. This is the first trim where the TurboMax engine becomes standard. Plus, you unlock access to four of the five selectable drive modes. The four modes you will get with this trim are Off-Road, Terrain (ideal for tackling steep hills), Tow/Haul (which optimizes vehicle dynamics for serious towing jobs), and Normal for everyday scenarios. It sits on 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. A two-speed auto transfer case gives you the option for a low-range gear that makes it great for off-road crawling scenarios.
The Z71
The Z71 is an exciting model. It almost sits between the Trail Boss and the more aggressive ZR2. It sees a slight dip in ground clearance compared to the Trail Boss, making it a little better for everyday driving scenarios. Plus, it has LED headlamps, taillamps, and fog lamps, which can make it great for camping trips, as well as work days that go on past sunset. The Z71 will have the same 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and four drive modes as the Trail Boss.
The ZR2
Finally, there is the ZR2. This is the ultimate off-road Colorado model. It has enormous 33-inch mud terrain tires. Plus, you get access to all five selectable drive modes in this trim. So you will have all four modes included in the Trail Boss and Z71, plus Baja mode, which is exclusive to the ZR2. Baja mode optimizes power, traction, and stability for sandy environments.
