Introducing the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV

September 21st, 2022 by

Are you in the market for a new truck? Are you considering a move to an electric truck? If so, you’re in luck! The new 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is just around the corner! Whether you’re already sold on the idea of getting into this fantastic new truck or you’re not sure if it’s the right fit for you, the best thing to do is to learn more about it.

Trims

To start, the 2024 Chevy Silverado Ev is offered in six different trims: WT, LT, LTZ, Trail Boss, High Country, and RST. Estimated prices are around $42,000; $50,000; $75,000; $85,000; $90,000; and $107,000 respectively. As the price goes up, expect to see better features included, and more of them.

Range

Range is a big deal when it comes to electric vehicles. While gas vehicles are still superior to electric vehicles in this regard (for now), EVs continue to close the gap. The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is proof, with an estimated 400-mile range on a full charge. It’s worth mentioning that the 400-mile range is based on analytical projections and may not reflect real-life range with complete accuracy. EV range can be negatively impacted by things like temperature, battery age, wear and tear, maintenance, vehicle use, and loading.

Safety

Not all the details have been released yet regarding the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV’s safety and driver assistance features. Still, some safety and driver assistance features are pretty standard these days. You’ll find things like standard automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian breaking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode. Forward collision alert, intellibeam high beam assist, and following distance indicator features are also standard features in Chevy’s Safety Assist package. The handsfree Super Cruise system will be offered at least on the RST trim. We’ll have to wait to see crash-test results from the NHTSA and IIHS, as those aren’t in yet.

Storage

As far as passenger space goes, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is similar to the regular Silverado crew cab pickup truck. There is ample space for a large storage bin between the dashboard and middle armrests in the front, thanks to this truck being designed with a column-mounted stalk rather than a console-mounted shifter.

Storage is given priority, thanks to the multi-flex midgate with pass-through. This allows the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV to fit items over 10 feet long when combined with the multi-flex tailgate and load stop. Speaking of the multi-flex tailgate, it boasts six different functions that make loading, unloading, and getting to the cargo bed easier, in addition to extending the carrying capacity of the truck in terms of length. If you need to transport longer items and passengers, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV does that too, thanks to the 60/40 flip-and-fold seats. These seats allow you to transport objects up to 9 feet long as well as a passenger. Even the standard bed is nothing to sneeze at, able to carry items up to 5’11” long.

With most trucks, all you’d get for storage is the cab space and the bed. Not so with this electric truck. If that’s not enough storage space for you, take a look under the hood. Thanks to the electric nature of this truck the hood doesn’t shelter an engine. Instead, it’s trunk space, perfect for hauling your stuff.

Power and Performance

Of course, you can’t talk about a pickup truck without discussing its power and performance. The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is powered by two electric motors that offer solid acceleration. Expect a horsepower rating between 510 hp and 664 hp, depending on the trim level. A four-wheel steering system and all-wheel drive come standard. All the wheels working together means that this truck has a tighter turning radius than some other trucks, which offers a great bonus in maneuverability. Maximum towing capacity is between 8,000-10,000 lbs, again depending on the trim.

Electric trucks have come a long way since the 1920’s when they were first available for sale, and the new 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is no exception. Given everything this truck has to offer, it’s clearly built to perform. It’s a worthy consideration for anyone interested in purchasing an electric truck in the near future.
