Chevy first released the Colorado for the 2004 model year, and at that time, it was a compact truck, making it much smaller than the full-size Silverado. For its first generation, numerous performance options were available, including both manual and automatic transmissions, and rear-wheel drive (4x2) and four-wheel drive (4x4) setups. Numerous cab sizes were also offered, creating plenty of options that made it easy for drivers to get whatever they were looking for. Although the Colorado received updates throughout its first generation, it ran through the 2012 model year without any major facelifts.
Following the 2012 model, Chevy gave the Colorado a couple of years off as they took a new approach to its design and engineering.
